Lac La Biche RCMP charge local teacher with assault

On Oct. 19, 2022, Lac La Biche RCMP received a report that a youth had been assaulted by their teacher at a local school. The child received minor injuries as a result of the assault.

 

On Dec. 29, 2022, 59-year-old Michael Lorne Mcarthur, a resident of Lac La Biche, was charged with one count of assault. He was released on conditions and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Mar. 13, 2023.

 

UPDATE

Lakeland Catholic School Division confirms accused teacher is no longer employed with the school division.

An individual formerly employed by Lakeland Catholic Schools has been charged by the RCMP in relation to an alleged incident at a Lac La Biche school.

The division would like to confirm that upon learning of the alleged incident, the individual was immediately removed from the school.

The individual is no longer employed with the division.
