On January 23, 2023, Mr. Leslie Makokis of Saddle Lake passed away at the age of 41 years.

He is survived by his mother, Hazel (Ron) Desjarlais; step-mother, Joan Moses; siblings, Crystal (Darell) LaChance, Dakota Dion, Jordan Dion, Micheal Moses, Ryder Moses & Kethra Stewart; grandparents, Roland & Florence Dion, Joe & Ruth Dion; great-aunties, Alice Littlechild & Madeline Dion-Stout; numerous aunties & uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews & grandchildren.

Leslie was predeceased by his father, Harvey Makokis; maternal grandparents, Bella & Billy Dion; paternal grandparents, Margaret & Alphonse Makokis; brother, Reynold Cardinal; & sister, Isabelle James-Dion.

A Wake will be held on Tuesday, January 31 (leaving Grace Gardens at 12:00 p.m.) at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. A Pipe Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 1 at 8:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. Elder Ron Desjarlais and Pastor Linda Burns will be officiating, with interment in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Saddle Lake.
