Thief of stolen truck found with meth, charged

A truck stolen from a business just outside of Bonnyville sees the suspect facing several charges.

On Tuesday, Bonnyville RCMP received reports of a theft of a black GMC Sierra and a white Dodge Ram chassis from a business just north of Bonnyville. The Ram was outfitted with custom oilfield equipment installed. 

The Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit found the GMC Sierra that evening in Fishing Lake. 

Kyle Lajimodiere, 23, of Fishing Lake is charged with a offences that include possession of the truck, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited, possession of methamphetamine, breaking and entering, and three firearms-related offences.

He was held for a bail hearing where he was remanded in custody, police said. His court appearance is set for January 25th. 

The Dodge truck was also located later that same evening burned out on a rural property two miles south of Cold Lake First Nations and was recovered by the Cold Lake RCMP. 

The investigation continues and anyone with knowledge of this theft is urged to contact the Bonnyville RCMP.
