Serious injuries in aggravated assault leads to series of charges

A Beaver Lake man is facing charges after an aggravated assault.

On Dec. 6, 2022, at 12:06 a.m. Lac La Biche RCMP received a report that a male had attended the Lac La Biche Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Lac La Biche RCMP responded and learned the male had sustained injuries during an altercation in which a 33 year old male attempted to steal his vehicle using a firearm. Lac La Biche RCMP said they launched an investigation and attempts were made to located the male who was known to the victim.

The victim who will not be named sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and is now recovering.

On Dec. 28, 2022, Kane Gladue 33 a resident of Beaver Lake was arrested and is facing nine charges including;

  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Aggravated assault

Subsequent to Gladue’s arrest Lac La Biche RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence he was located in. As a result, several firearms, ammunition and other weapons were seized. This search resulted in three additional charges against Gladue.

Following a judicial hearing, Gladue was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial court on Jan. 3, 2023.
