The Ice is making their comeback before they kick off the New Year with two back-to-back wins.

“We have guys putting the puck in the back of the net, and it’s nice to see. They were rewarded. It’s hard work doing the little things, but we will take it and move on. We got a big game coming up on Tuesday,” said Scott Hood, head coach for Cold Lake Ice.

They have one more game coming up and are rewarded with downtime until January 7.

“Just get healthy. We have a few guys banged up. That’s the sport. It’s what happens when you play a lot of games,” said Hood, who wants his players to take this break to enjoy family and rest time.

Xander Ray opened up the game bright and early for the Ice and stayed the only goal scorer for the first.

Cold Lake capitalized in the second, pushing another early goal and taking advantage of their powerplay opportunity, leaving them up 3-0.

Box time for both teams increased through the second and third frames.

Cold Lake secured the most points of the night in the third with three different goal scorers; the Rangers were unable to retaliate against the Ice’s defense and only slid one past Nolin Lindsey.

They will take on the St. Paul Canadiens Tuesday in the Clancy Richard Arena.
