Weapons seized, two charged after stolen vehicle investigation
Two people are facing charges after a stolen vehicle investigation.
St. Paul RCMP were patrolling in Saddle Lake on Monday when officers spotted a stolen vehicle. RCMP said they followed the vehicle until it stopped and arrested one male. A second male ran into the bushes, police said.
In collaboration with the Emergency Response Team, Cold Lake Police Dog Services, and Air Services, the second male was located and arrested.
Numerous weapons were seized. Both suspects were held for a judicial hearing.
Cody Travis Waskahat, 39, resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:
- possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon (x2)
- possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x2)
- possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized (x2)
Following his judicial hearing, Cody Waskahat was released with conditions and is set to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Jan. 5, 2023.
Cody Anthony Steinhauer, 38, resident of Saddle Lake, has been charged with:
- flight from peace officer
- possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x3)
- dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- unsafe storage of firearms
- unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon (x2)
- weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization (x2)
Following his judicial hearing, Cody Steinhauer was remanded into custody and is set to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Dec. 22, 2022.
