Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit investigates homicide in Saddle Lake Cree Nation

On Nov. 30, 2022, at 4:05 a.m., Saddle Lake RCMP received a report of a serious assault at a residence in Saddle Lake Cree Nation. Upon arrival, officers located a victim. Despite life saving efforts, the victim identified as 66-year-old Saddle Lake Cree Nation resident Roland Jackson was deceased. Officers arrested a suspect at the scene and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was dispatched to take carriage of the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Albert Paul Jackson (39), a resident of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, with Second Degree Murder.

Albert Jackson was taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance set for Dec. 1, 2022, at St. Paul Provincial Court.

As this matter is before the courts no further information will be released.
