Emotions were high for Ecole Notre Dame High School (NDHS) Senior girls’ volleyball team after ending their season 51-1 and taking home the provincial championship last weekend.
Not only did the girls win provincials but claimed the Zones Championship the week before.
“It was so surreal, I was just in shock, everyone else was crying, I was just standing there like did we really just win provincials,” said Emma Jonker, a middle for the team.
“Our team bond is amazing, we bring so much energy when on the court.”
The team is all in their grade 12 year and has made this a goal of theirs for quite some time now.

“We have worked so hard for this and have been together for such a long time, that this is our cherry on top,” said Olivia Munday, who plays libero for the team.
Only two sets had to be played, 25-20 ending the first and 25-21 to win it all.
“It’s definitely been a journey, I have actually been working with some of these kids since they were in grade three,” said Head Coach, Scott Cameron.
“This is the only prize they have been thinking about for the last three or four years.”
The girls went through provincials undefeated, and faced one loss throughout the entire season.
“As much as it would have been to have an undefeated season, I think we learned a lot from the one loss and realized if we are not playing our best at all times there are teams who are capable of beating us.”
The two teams up for the title were Notre Dame and Magrath high school.

Not only did they make history by winning the championship but the first provincial volleyball title in school history.
The first girls’ title for our town and the second ever in Bonnyville.
The team is described by the public to be dedicated, hardworking and kind.
