Canadiens redeemed after loss to Wheat Kings.
The St. Paul Canadiens redeemed themselves 4-1 against the Onion Lake Border Chiefs on Saturday, after losing 5-4 to the Killam Wheat Kings on Friday.
Canadiens took to the ice Saturday short two men after their battle against Killam.
With Head Coach Corey deMossiac and Assistant Coach Gille Gervais also not in attendance, Christian Nypower and Derrick Germaine were behind the bench for Saturday’s game.
“A little short staffed, I’m not worried boys are gonna play their game, hopefully, they play like they do every other night no matter who is behind the bench,” said Nypower in the pre-game interview with Lakeland Connect.
“We are gonna play the whole 60 hard.”
The Canadiens did just that, with an exceptional night from one player, in particular, Parker Sabatier. Sabatier got a hat trick making it a 3-point game for #15.
“He is good with the puck, he stepped up tonight,” said Germaine, during the post-game interview with Lakeland Connect.
The Canadiens are still first in the standings with 12-2-1.
But trailing closely behind, the Wainwright Bisons have a shot at number one if these next two games end in their favour.
Upcoming for the Canadiens
This Friday, the Canadiens will take on the Lloydminster Bobcats with four missing men.
Then to rematch the Killam Wheat Kings on home ice Sunday.
