St. Paul football is taking over the capital regional this weekend — one team looking for a Provincial title, the other looking to punch their ticket their.

The St. Paul Bengals bantam football team won a nail biter 34-32 over the Grande Prairie Broncos and hope to carry that grit into Saturday night’s Tier I Provincial Final against the Edmonton Chargers.

But they’ll have their high school team there in support.

The St. Paul Lions play on the same field, Emerald Hills Stadium in Sherwood Park, earlier on Saturday at noon. The 4th seeded Lions defeated the #3 seeded Sexsmith Sabres 16-13 at Regional Field last weekend. Now, they get to take on the Ardrossan Bisons, one step away from the Tier IV Provincial final.

A fan bus was being arranged for the games depending on residents’ interest.
