Lac La Biche RCMP arrest and charge youth with firearms offences

On Nov. 10, 2022, Lac La Biche RCMP was notified of an Instagram post that showed a male posing with 4 firearms. Officers identified the male in this post and it was known that he had court ordered conditions not to possess weapons.

Lac La Biche RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant at a Lac La Biche residence. As a result of the search warrant, 1 firearm, 8 imitation firearms and bear spray was seized.

A 14-year-old male, a resident of Lac La Biche, has been charged with the following offences:

• Weapons possession contrary to an order
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon

The youth was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace from custody on conditions. He will be appearing in Lac La Biche youth court on Dec. 19, 2022.
