Remembrance Day ceremonies scheduled this week

On Friday, various communities around the Lakeland will be remembering sacrifices made by previous generations and current veterans to protect our way of life.

Friday, November 11 will see the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 in Bonnyville commemorate outside the Legion hall at 10:45am with a ceremony and a lunch service to follow.

Cold Lake’s ceremony with 4 Wing members will be at the Energy Center. Those looking to attend should expect the ceremony to begin at 10:40am.

The St. Paul Legion begins its opening program at 10:00am, with the ceremony beginning at 10:30 at the St. Paul Recreation Center. NASA astronaut Joshua Kutryk, originally from Beauvallon in the County of Two Hills, will be joined via video from Houston as the guest speaker. A lunch will be available by donation.

Outside at the Royal Canadian Legion McGrane Branch in Lac La Biche, the outside ceremony at the cenotaph begins at 10:50am. The legion will remain open until 3:00pm.

In-school ceremonies will occur throughout the week.
