NDHS girls volleyball team remain undefeated
While nearing the crunch time of the volleyball season, the Notre Dame Wildcats girls team remains undefeated this season after travelling to the Border City this past weekend.
Both the high school girls and boys teams went to Holy Rosary to face Alberta and Saskatchewan competition.
After moving through pool play, the girls team knocked off Bethlehem (Saskatoon) in the quarters and Lloydminster Comp in the semi-finals in straight sets, to set up a final against the host in Holy Rosary.
After splitting the first two sets, the Raiders hopped out to a 6-2 lead in the deciding set. The Wildcats closed the gap and traded points, before tying the set 14-14. In the end, the Wildcats closed the deal and won their fifth straight tournament and moved to 34-0 overall this year.
They have one more tournament at Rocky Mountain House against strong 2A competition, before beginning Zones playdowns.
On the boys side, the Raiders ended up taking gold against the St. Jerome’s Spartans from Vermilion. The Wildcats were bounced out of the competition by the Raiders in the semifinal.
In other action last weekend, the JV Boys won a bronze medal playing in Cold Lake, and the JV girls Grade 9 club had success as well, taking a gold medal.
