Most knew Eugie as a talker and a woman with boundless life and energy. Eugie was born in Bonnyville and grew up there helping raise her siblings on the farm. On May 15, 1971, she was married and began family life. Over her working life, she worked for the Bonnyville Hospital and retired after 30 years of service. On the side, she was an accomplished “Avon Lady” and enjoyed visiting and getting to know her customers. In retirement, she volunteered for the police commission, the Bonnyville Hospital Auxiliary, the Legion, and the Bonnyville museum where she spent nearly a decade worth of summers beautifying the grounds. Eugie was also very active in her church community over the years and loved singing and mingling with fellow church goers and praying for those needing it. Eugie was a joyful person, who loved listening to music while dancing and singing around the house. She loved to travel, take the path less worn, and spend time at her lake property, feeding the birds and enjoying campfires and the summer sun. Eugie was also very passionate about gardening, flowers, and birds, all of which made her yard the beautiful private sanctuary that it was. She always received compliments from any visitors on how beautiful and peaceful it was. Most importantly, Eugie was a proud grandmother and loved spending time spoiling her grandkids, taking photos of them, chaperoning school trips, and simply loving them.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Saturday Oct, 22nd at the Bonnyville Pentecostal Church (4715 51ave) followed by a friends and family social also at the church. Internment at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery north of Bonnyville will follow on Sunday Oct 23rd, also at 2pm. All are invited to either or both.
As a special request, the family asks guests to bring a short, printed story and/or photo(s) of Eugie for a commemorative scrapbook of her life, loves and friends.
