Hilda was born to Otto and Hedwig Lange on June 17, 1937, on a farm near Goodsoil, Saskatchewan. She attended school in Emberville, Loon Lake, and Pierceland. She worked after school in a café in Pierceland owned by her parents. She worked for Walter and Lorene Pikowicz for two years in the Red & White Store. She spent the next five years working as the secretary of the (then) Local Improvement District of Loon Lake.

Hilda married Walter Ilnesky in 1962. They moved to Pierceland, and Hilda began working at the Pierceland Credit Union where she remained for 31 years, 18 as the general manager. She also spent 13 years as an insurance agent for SGI.

Hilda was very active in the United Church as secretary-treasurer and choir member.

Hilda was well-known for feeding and caring for stray cats in the neighborhood. She enjoyed baking, keeping up to date with politics and world news, and having coffee with friends.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Walter; mother, Hedwig (Witt) Lange; father, Otto Lange; brothers, Gerhard and Ewald Lange; sister, Ilse Schroeder.

Hilda is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held in the Pierceland Community Hall on Saturday, October 8, at 1:00 p.m. with lunch to follow.
