Scott MacDonald Memorial sees over $10K raised

The Scott MacDonald Memorial was another great showing of when the community meets football in Bonnyville last Saturday.

The 13th annual fundraiser raised $10,820 for efforts to fight cancer and four Bonnyville Voyageur scholarships, with a silent auction draw, 50/50, and four football games throughout the day.

With head shavings happening during the halftime of each game, eleven players fundraised and elected to get their hair shorn, while many others decided to dye their hair pink.

The Bonnyville Voyageurs were able to collect their first win of the season 37-20 against the Wainwright Commandos under the lights on Saturday night.

It was a successful day where both the bantam Bandits and peewee Renegades each picked up victories as well.

The Voyageurs will look to keep their winning ways going when they travel up Highway 28 to Cold Lake for a rivalry matchup against the Royals on Thursday night at 7:00pm. Each team is 1-1 on the season.

The St. Paul Lions have been impressive thus far. They managed a road victory against the Lloyd Comp Barons to improve to 2-0. St. Paul will have their home opener on Regional Field on Thursday night against the always stout Holy Rosary Raiders for first place in the Wheatland Football League. Kickoff is 7:00pm.
