In Loving Memory: John Ignas – Memento Funeral Chapel

It is with great sadness that the family of John Ignas announce his passing on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Bonnyville Health Care Center at the age of 89 years.

John is survived by his sister: Stephanie (Brian) McCluskey of Oakville, ON; nephews: Neil McCluskey of Toronto, ON, Sean (Melissa Lin) McCluskey of Redwood City, CA; nieces: Sabrina McCluskey of Toronto, ON, Judy (Cory) Trippel of Drayton Valley AB.

John is also survived by his step nephews: Rick (Irene) Scharf of Bonnyville, AB,  Larry (Karen) Scharf of Slave Lake, AB, Todd Scharf of Mackenzie, BC, Patrick (Nely) Scharf of Alaziziyah Alkhobar, KSA; step nieces: Marilyn (Ken) Topilko of Grand Prairie, AB, Sherry Scharf of Bonnyville, AB,  Linda (Pat) Peters of Calgary, AB.

John was predeceased by his parents: Edward & Agnes of Ardmore; brother: Ted & Sonja (Scharf) Ignas of Bonnyville.

John was a kind man, compassionate and supportive of his family, and a good friend to those who knew him.  He shared his working years farming in Ardmore and operating heavy road building equipment for Poole Construction in northern BC and in the Yukon. In his retirement years in Bonnyville, he enjoyed boating and fishing. He was an avid member of the Bonnyville Singles Club and of the Seniors Club playing cards, pool and floor curling and taking day tour trips.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors and the Staff at the Bonnyville Health Care Center for the kindness and thoughtful care provided to John in his final days.

Funeral Mass, St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Bonnyville, Alberta on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Rene Realuyo officiating. Final resting place, St. Peter and St. Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Alexander, AB.
