Chamber of Commerce settles into new home
The Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce opened the doors of their new home to residents on Friday afternoon.
The Chamber is now on Main Street at at 5014 50 Avenue, moving from its previous spot at the Shaw House.
“The Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce is here for Bonnyville, we are here for the Lakeland, and that is so important. People know we’re here for them and what better way to do it then in the heart of Bonnyville where we can talk to our members, where we can have those conversations,” said Chamber executive director Serina Parsons.
“It has been a challenge as everybody knows with the move with packing, with getting the finishing touches, getting our furniture, all of it. But already we have been visible.”
The day included a ribbon cutting and speeches, while allowing a tour of the facility. The two-level office, includes a boardroom downstairs that is available for free for their non-profit members.
With the new location secured, the Chamber can now focus on its primary task of economic development and advocating for the region.
“Nobody aside probably from our mayor and council is as passionate about the economic development of our region as we are and so that’s why we’re here today,” said Parsons.
The grand opening coincides with a new Shop Local program the Chamber launched Friday.
Residents can order $100 Visa Gift Cards for $75 or get a $50 card for $40 to be used exclusively for local vendors.
