Hearts for Healthcare Mega Bounce Run returning with real inflatables

Hearts for Healthcare’s Mega Bounce Run is back for another year, with the bouncy inflatables returning for the first since 2019.

Beginning now until “bounce” day of September 10, participants can sign up and begin the first legs of the fundraiser run on their own if they wish, or wait until the event day.

As Kari Leiper, executive director for Hearts for Healthcare explains, this year’s event is a mix of both virtual and getting back together again.

“Over the last two years, we’ve had to sort of move more virtual, which is kind of a loose term, because obviously we had our designated routes that people could do,” Leiper told Lakeland Connect. “They could bike it, walk it, there was a kayak one last year. There’s kind of taking those aspects and then mixing it with a bouncy castle stuff that we’re bringing back. So it’s those nine inflatables on a 5K course, and that’s on September 10.”

As of Friday, August 19, the two designated routes are set out at the Cold Lake Provincial Park and around the Energy Centre, each containing five Checkpoint Challenge Posters where participants can complete and be entered to win community sponsored prizes worth $250 and over each.

Even bigger prizes can be found through the Hidden Gem Checkpoint Challenges, which are also at five locations throughout the area. There are clues on Hearts for Healthcare’s social media feeds on where those can be found.

This will be the fifth running of the event, which is a fundraiser that is meant for all ages.

“It opens it up to the entire community as well, so it’s kind of it’s very accessible to all age groups, all abilities,” said Leiper.

“This year, we’re kind of focusing on community health services and public health and home care departments. We’re trying to bring some awareness to those programs a little bit, because I know people are maybe not necessarily aware of what’s available in our community.”

There is more information on the registration forms, which can be found here.

The fee is $45 for adults, and $25 for those 18 and under, and all proceeds go towards Hearts for Healthcare initiatives.
