Armistice Road closed during daytime hours for construction

Residents are being notified that a rural road in the County of St. Paul will not be accessible for key hours during the day as construction begins on them.

Armistice Road, from Range Road 73 to Range Road 72, will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday to August 17th.

The road will be open outside of those hours and on the weekends and detour signs are being placed at both intersections. Traffic will be detoured south to Highway 646 at the Range Road 73 intersection, and detoured north to Township Road 572 at the Range Road 72 intersection.

Armistice Road is south of St. Paul, running from Highway 881 at Township Road 574 to Elk Point.

Work has begun on culvert extensions and to make major improvements to both side slopes to increase safety.

The reasoning for closing the road, the County says, is that the work will involve creating a large dip in the road with poor visibility and traffic may not have the time its need to stop in the event a piece of heavy equipment is working on the road top, or a tree falls the wrong way onto the road during brushing.
