Two more $1 million prizes, over $20 million in total prizes available on new ticket

 

Juanita Melenko cleaned up more than her clothes while doing laundry at a local laundromat on June 12. The Vegreville local is now Alberta’s newest millionaire thanks to the new $100 ULTIMATE instant ticket.

 

The ULTIMATE ticket is the first ticket at a $100 price point ever released in the Western Canada lottery region. It launched on May 30 and allows players the best chance to become a millionaire of any game offered by WCLC, with odds of 1 in 100,000.

 

Looking to kill time between loads, Melenko headed to the nearby Vegreville Co-Op Gas Bar at 4906 – 51 Avenue and had her interest piqued by the new ULTIMATE tickets on sale. She picked up two to add a little excitement to laundry day, and when Melenko scratched her tickets, she couldn’t believe her eyes; one of her numbers matched the winning number – she’d be taking home the ticket’s top prize – a cool $1 million!

 

Melenko is the first winner to bring home the ULTIMATE’s top prize, after less than two weeks of the ticket being on the market.

 

“I thought I won $100,000 then I looked closer and saw it was $1 million!” Melenko recalled as she claimed her prize.

 

Melenko headed straight to the store to check her ticket to confirm what she was seeing. Just to be sure, she handed it to the cashier for validation who confirmed she was indeed $1 million richer.

 

The newly minted millionaire has a few ideas for her windfall; “I’m going to pay off my farm debt and purchase a new vehicle,” she said.
