Gas prices cresting toward $1.80/L in Lakeland area

Gas prices continue to surge as many communities in the Lakeland hover around $1.80/L. 

As the prices climb to some of the highest on record, Alberta on average has the cheapest fuel in Canada, but prices have jumped 15 to 16 cents in about a week. 

The cheapest fuel pump in the province as of writing on Wednesday evening is $1.715 in Sylvan Lake. 

The NDP has been calling on the provincial government to renew its suspension of the gas tax, which is set to be reviewed in mid-June. 

The national average on Monday was $2.076/L.
