Army’s largest training exercise MAPLE RESOLVE begins
Vermilion and area residents will see an influx of people to the area, as south in Wainwright, the Canadian Army’s largest training exercise of the year is about to take place.
MAPLE RESOLVE 22 begins today and continues until Sunday, May 22 at 3CDSG Wainwright with the exercise coming back on to nearly full capacity.
It’s expected that approximately 3,200 military personnel will play a role with roughly 680 U.S. Army Soldiers, 20 U.S. Marines, and 150 members of the British Army.

The majority of Canadian soldiers will be from 2 CMBG based out of Petawawa, Ontario.
Leopard 2 tanks and other vehicles have been moved by rail through New Brunswick to Wainwright for the exercise.
Residents of Wainwright and the surrounding area may see jets, helicopters, and drones, outside the Garrison Wainwright training area during the exercise.
