Premier Academy & Cheer Force Jets make it to Worlds

A group of Bonnyville cheerleaders have earned an exciting trip to perform on the world’s stage.

Premier Academy & Tumbling’s U17 Xplosion team competing in Cold Lake recently at the Take Flight event, and came away as the Grand champions, being the highest scoring team at the meet.

With this accomplishment, the group of 25 competitors that range from 10-15-years-old, will now book their tickets with a paid trip to Florida to the All-Star Worlds event in April 2023. They also get a paid trip to Disneyworld to boot.

Coach and owner of Premier Academy, Melissa Kirkendall, said it was great to see the team’s work pay off in such a big way.

“It was pretty amazing. We shed lots of tears, these athletes have worked pretty hard all season long, including the two years that we’ve had with COVID, being shut down and trying to work virtually and things like that,” said Kirkendall.

“So we’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this team over the last couple of years. They really came out and did so amazing.”

As this cheer season draws nearer to a close, Premier Academy competed in their final event of the season in Edmonton over the weekend at the All-Star Cheer Extravaganza.

The team will take a week off this week for spring break and have a final week of practices to follow.

Otherwise at the Take Flight competition in Cold Lake over the April 2nd weekend, the Cheer Force Jets also claimed bids to the same Worlds tournament in Florida next year.

The Premier Academy teams finished with great results.
