No charges will be laid by the RCMP after an incident at Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS) this morning which sent the school into a hold and secure lockdown.

“A student from the school made a post on social media with a picture of ammunition and claimed they would bring an explosive device to BCHS,” Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told Lakeland Connect in a phone call. “The school will be dealing with the student internally and no charges have been laid.”

Nicole Garner Communications Officer at Northern Lights Public Schools told Lakeland Connect the school was put on hold and secure this morning and as students arrived at school they were directed to one of two safe spaces at the school.

Shortly after police arrived it was determined that there was no longer a threat to the safety of students and staff, everyone was allowed to re-enter the school and classes resumed as scheduled.
