Editorial: Happy Birthday to me!

Well, I made it to age 38, yes I am surprised as you are. Today is my birthday.

I’ve done pretty well at this staying alive thing. Maybe because my Mudder prays for me everyday. I have a brother and a sister and my mom worries about me the most. Yes, I am still figuring this thing out we call life.

I can’t believe I have made 38 trips around the sun, however, in my mind I still feel 20-years-old. Age is just a number, so I’ll act however I feel in my heart. You’re only as old as you feel.

They say you lose your memory as you grow older. As we age, three things happen. The first thing is your memory goes I’m told, and I forget the other two.

However, I say forget about the past and live life to the fullest today and I’m going to start today with cake. So many candles for such a small cake.

Some people get wiser with age. Some people get richer with age. But everybody gets older with age. So I wish myself good luck with the other two. I admit when I woke this morning I was a little sad at being a year older. Birthdays are like boogers. The more you have, the harder it is to breathe.

I realize as I am getting older that time passes way too fast and you don’t get these years back. Today marks one small milestone in the beautiful journey that is my life. I am blessed to be living my dream as a journalist and will continue to follow my goals and ambitions to success while working for Lakeland Connect. Life is a journey and I am going to enjoy every mile.

Working for such a great company has made me realize that the best of my life has yet to come, I should embrace it, be confident, and embark on a future of limitless possibilities and opportunities. That’s exactly what I plan on doing. Also, birthdays are a perfect fresh start for a new year. I am the strength that always helps me to fight against all odds in my life.

I might feel a year older, but I’m still younger than I’ll be tomorrow. I guess Newfoundlanders always look at the bright side of things. I’m not aging, I’m leveling up.

Birthdays are a day for dreams to come true, I look forward to the rest of my life, and I just made a dream of mine come true by writing this editorial to wish myself a Happy Birthday to me!
