Cold Lake Fishing Derby being held June 18 and 19
Anglers from across the prairies, BC, and even the northern U.S. flock to Cold Lake in June for the annual Cold Lake Fishing Derby.
The 2022 derby takes place June 18 and 19, with registration and boat checks at the Energy Centre on June 16 and 17.

Not only does Cold Lake offer some of the best freshwater fishing in western Canada, it can also be a very lucrative weekend for those who reel in the biggest trout. New for 2022, the top 25 anglers will receive a prize and there are over $25,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded this year.
It is important to note:
- All fish measurements must be submitted using the Angler’s Atlas MyCatch app. For this reason, each participant must have a cell phone with a camera, capable of downloading the app and connecting to the internet to submit fish photos. No other forms of measurement will be accepted. Search “Angler’s Atlas” in the Apple App Store or on Google Play.
- The Cold Lake Fishing Derby is a catch-and-release tournament. Please handle all fish caught with care.
- Anglers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- All anglers must hold a valid Alberta fishing licence and comply with all Alberta fishing regulations.
- Boat launch fees at the Cold Lake Marina are included in the tournament entry fee.
