The Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS) graduation class of 2022 are collecting items for an online auction they’re hosting at Elevate Auctions from February 28 until March 14.

“Every year the graduating class has to raise the funds for everything on top of the convocation ceremony the school hosts,” Tricia Holder Treasurer of the BCHS Parent Committee told Lakeland Connect. “This includes but isn’t limited to DJs, decorators, rental space, photographers, and memory books for each grad.”

The parent committee hosted Sobeys and Hamels gift card fundraisers as well as a winter plant fundraiser to help with the cost.

“We had low return for those and had to get creative with our fundraising efforts,” Holder said. “We heard the success Iron River School had with their auction and thought this could do well for us.”

The students are also going to be doing a bottle drive in the coming weeks to raise funds.

“We are in desperate need of financial assistance to deliver a memorable graduation experience for 70 excited and motivated students this June,” Holder said. “COVID-19 has placed a heavy burden on our fundraising efforts however we are encouraged to continue mitigate this challenge and have become an inventive with our strategies to raise the necessary funds. We kindly and humbly ask for your help. We are hosting an online auction as our next fundraiser. Any donation small or big that can contribute is extremely appreciated.”

BCHS will collect donations for the auction until March 6.
