An early Sunday morning house fire dropped tones and sent Vermilion Fire and Rescue Society firefighters and apparatus out the door.

On February 27, Vermilion RCMP and EMS were also alerted to this call.

Crews arrived quickly and managed to get the fire under control while working to ensure no one was inside. The house was cleared and fire ground operations extinguished the fire.

“Firefighters responded to an early morning structure fire,” Director of Protective Services in the County of Vermilion River Kirk Hughes said. “Crews arrived at a fully engulfed house on fire and immediately began fire ground operations which included search & rescue, tanker water shuttle, and exterior attack. Thankfully, the occupant was away at work at the time and not at home.”

The cause has been determined and the scene has been released to the RCMP.

“There are no injuries. A fire investigation team was assigned to determine the cause of the fire alongside the Vermilion RCMP,” Hughes concluded.
