BRFA respond to two fires

The BRFA responded to two fires yesterday in the Lakeland area.

On February 22, Station 7 Fort Kent and Station 8 Ardmore responded at 11:55 a.m. to a structure fire near RR 450 and Twp 624.

“Station 5 Bonnyville responded with tanker support,” Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney of the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority said.

The fire was in an outbuilding which was fully involved when crews arrived.

“The building and some farm implements inside were a total loss and an investigation is ongoing,” Regional Fire Chief Heney said.

Later in the day, Station 5 Bonnyville responded at 2:37 p.m. to a car fire near 53 St and 53 Ave.

“A vehicle was found nearly fully involved in the back parking lot of an apartment building and flames were impinging on the structure,” Regional Fire Chief Heney said. “Tenants were evacuated until the fire was brought under control.”

The front half of the vehicle was completely destroyed and an investigation is ongoing.
