Bonnyville police make arrests for mischief, drunk driving and assault on a police officer

The Bonnyville RCMP was involved in 146 investigations between February 11-18.

On February 13, at 5:45 a.m., a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was patrolling highway 28 and observed a vehicle parked at RR 464 just passed the bridge.

“The member observed the engine was running, headlights were on and the driver was asleep behind the wheel,” Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke told Lakeland Connect in the weekly media update. “The member also determined that the licence plate did not match the vehicle.”

A sobriety check was performed with the 44-year-old female from Cold Lake and she was determined to be intoxicated.

“Her vehicle was and driver’s licence were both seized for three days and she was issued a $300 fine under Provincial Sanctions,” Staff Sgt. Parke said. “She was additionally fined $324 for Misuse of Licence plate.”

On February 12, at 10:00 p.m., the Bonnyville RCMP was called to a residence in the 4600 block of 45 Avenue to deal with an individual who was trying to fight with others and was refusing to leave.

“When members arrived the male’s behaviour did not change and he tried fighting with police,” Staff Sgt. Parke said.

The male was arrested and taken into custody without further incident. The 48-year-old male from Bonnyville is charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and Mischief Under $5000. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released to appear in court on March 15.

On February 16, at 4:30 p.m., the Bonnyville RCMP received a report that a male, currently banned from entering a store, was going in and out of that store yelling at people.

“Members attended and located the male,” Staff Sgt. Parke said.

The 50-year-old male from Kehewin was arrested and charged with Mischief Under $5000. He was held for a Bail Hearing and was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court on March 15.
