Exemplary Service Medal awarded to County of Vermilion River Protective Services Department

Two Peace Officers in the County of Vermilion River Protective Services Department will receive a prestigious award.

The Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medal, created on June 22, 2004, recognizes peace officers who have served in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry, and efficiency.

“The County of Vermilion River Protective Services Department received formal notification from the Governor-General, on behalf of the Queen, advising of the awarding of the Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medals (POESM) has been approved for two of our County Peace Officers serving in our Public Safety Division,” Director of Protective Services in the County of Vermilion River Kirk Hughes said.

The Exemplary Service Medal has been awarded to Sgt. Roland Feist who is now retired and Sgt. Christopher Garner.

Recipients of the Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medal (POESM) must have completed at least 20 years of exemplary service protecting the safety and security of the Canadian public with one or more organizations (federal, provincial, or municipal).

“We extend our congratulations to both officers,” Hughes said. “Medal ceremonies will be announced in the near future.”
