With the help of the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement is proud to announce that it is on track to invest $4.3 million into housing for its most vulnerable members.

A total of 20 trailers will be purchased and allocated to members that are most in need, including seniors at risk of homelessness, single parents, victims of domestic abuse, and other members at risk due to the lack of housing.

This housing is meant to be transitional and is meant to assist vulnerable members with the most basic housing needs until they can become self-sufficient.

“An effort will also be made to provide housing to young families who are currently living with their parents but have children of their own and would appreciate the independence space,” Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement stated in a news release.

The Chairman and Council of the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement would like to sincerely thank the administrator and management team for their successful application and approval of the RHI funds. A transitional application process with guidelines will be made available in the coming months.

The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2022.
