Lakeland 4H Long Riders Light Horse Club holds communication day
Members of the Lakeland 4H Long Riders Light Horse Club held a communication day this weekend to compete in public speaking.
On February 6, young Lakelanders took to the stage to voice their presentations on different topics.
One of the organizers, Dawn McMillan said there were an array of presentations by club members.
“We had a number of presentations from Ukrainian traditions, to how to make a bagel, to how to make a smoothie bowl,” said McMillan. “Some of the younger kids presented them on their horses, what they felt or experienced when they’re riding their horse, we also had a space presentation, all kinds of things.”
Public speaking is such a huge skill to take with you anywhere in life, explained McMillian, “in your own job, in any event, or situation to be able to stand up in a room full of people and present with confidence is a great skill that kids learn from these events.”
From the event, the winners in each category will move onto districts where they compete against youth from 4-H clubs from around the area.
The participants names and placements were not available at the time of this publication.
