Snowfall and Blowing Snow Warning for the Lakeland Region; some bus cancellations

Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm today. Snow will end this afternoon.

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow, with strong wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h, will develop this morning and end late this afternoon.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.

Ensure that shelter is provided for pets and outdoor animals.

Bus Cancellations

Due to the snowfall and blowing snow warnings, Northern Lights Public Schools have cancelled buses for Monday, January 31st, 2022.

As of 6:55 am, no other school divisions in the Lakeland region have cancelled buses. Please check your local school division for updates on transportation.
