Bonnyville RCMP investigate vandalism, disturbances, and drunk driving this week in the Lakeland

The Bonnyville RCMP was involved in 135 investigations between January 21-28 in the Lakeland.

On January 21 during the noon hour, the Bonnyville RCMP received a report of an aggressive male at a business on Main Street who was causing a disturbance by yelling at customers and taking things off the shelves.

Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke is the Detachment Commander for the Bonnyville RCMP.

“The staff had removed him but the male kept returning into the store,” Staff Sgt. Parke told Lakeland Connect in her weekly update to media. “A member attended and immediately identified the male and knew him to be on release conditions, that he was now breaching. The 34-year-old male from Bonnyville was arrested and charged with two counts of Mischief and four counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Condition.”

He is set to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on February 1.

On January 21, at 11:30 p.m. a Bonnyville RCMP member conducted a traffic stop on 50th Avenue with a driver that had failed to use his signal light when turning.

“Upon approaching the driver the member was able to determine that he was impaired,” Staff Sgt. Parke said. “The male provided breath samples more than twice the legal limit and was charged Criminally.”

He will appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 15.

On January 25, the Bonnyville RCMP received a report of vandalism at an Oilfield site near La Corey.

“Unknown culprit(s) damaged the property and accessed and stole some copper wire,” Staff Sgt. Parke said. “Anyone with knowledge of this or any other copper wire theft in the area is urged to contact the Bonnyville RCMP.”
