Man attacked with bear spray in Bonnyville

On January 19, some members of the Bonnyville RCMP were attending an unrelated matter in town when they located a male in distress.

The male advised that an individual known to him had assaulted him with bear spray.

Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke is the Detachment Commander of the Bonnyville RCMP

“A Member later located and arrested the suspect that same evening,” Staff Sgt. Parke wrote in her weekly update to Lakeland Connect.

The 35-year-old male from Bonnyville has been charged with Assault With A Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon.

“The male had also tried to run from police upon his arrest and was subsequently charged with Resisting Arrest,” Staff Sgt. Parke added.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace for a Bail Hearing and was released to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on February 15.
