BRFA responds to two accidents within 20 minutes

Yesterday the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) responded to two motor vehicle accidents (MVA) within 20 minutes.

Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a two-vehicle MVA on Lakeshore Drive, at 2:45 p.m. near 44 Ave.

“It appears that one vehicle lost control and hit a parked second vehicle,” Fire Chief Heney told Lakeland Connect. “The driver did not want to be assessed by EMS and both vehicles required a tow.”

Roughly 20 minutes before the MVA occurred on Lakeshore Drive, Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a single-vehicle in the ditch on RR 460 near Twp 605.

“A vehicle was found in the ditch, locked, with no one inside or around,” Fire Chief Heney said. “The scene was left in the care of the RCMP.”

At least four RCMP units responded to the abandoned truck in the ditch and a heavy police presence was in the area for some time.

Geographically, both accidents were nine kilometres apart with a response time of 15 minutes for the BRFA.

The BRFA was on the move again shortly before the supper hour. Station 5 Bonnyville responded at 5:45 p.m.to Highway 28 and Twp 611A for a two-vehicle MVA.

“All three occupants were transported to BHC, and both vehicles needed to be towed,” Fire Chief Heney concluded.
