Vegreville Regional Historical Society Established, Councillor Dave Berry Appointed Chair

Last Updated: January 18, 2022By

Councillor Dave Berry has been appointed Chair of the Vegreville Regional Historical Society. The appointment was approved by Vegreville Town Council at the January 10, 2022 Regular Council Meeting.

As Chair, Berry hopes to help develop the newly established society as it endeavors to maintain and build on the efforts of the former Vegreville Regional Museum Society, which officially dissolved in 2021 after the Town of Vegreville assumed responsibility of the Museum.

“While I’m thrilled to be appointed to the position, my aim is to assist in growing the society’s membership and, once we have enough members for a governing board, ensure a Chair is elected through a more traditional process,” Dave Berry, Councillor, Town of Vegreville said in a news release. “With that said, it’s my hope that residents who are passionate about the importance of preserving and promoting the historical significance of our community will jump at the opportunity to join this society as we work to get it off the ground.”

A membership push for the Vegreville Regional Historical Society is now underway and those interested in being a part of it can contact Community Services Director Phil Rowe.

“We’re looking for a wide range of community members to join the society,” Phil Rowe, Community Services Director, Town of Vegreville said. “The guiding principle behind it’s creation is to promote the rich history and culture of our community and there will be a role for everyone to help in achieving that goal, be it through education, marketing, preservation and advocacy.”

Rowe can be reached at prowe@vegreville.com or 587-790-0922 while more information on the Vegreville Regional Historical Society will be posted at vegreville.com as well as on Town social media accounts in the coming weeks.
