Jensen Wenzel voted 2021 Firefighter of the Year by BRFA

Jensen Wenzel has been voted 2021 Firefighter of the Year by the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA).

Jensen began her firefighting journey as a junior firefighter in 2014 with Station 5 and became a responding member in 2019.

Craig Wenzel is the Fire Chief for Bonnyville Station 5.

“She has been very active in Community Involvement activities around Bonnyville like the Charity Checkstops, food drives, school visits, as well as behind the scenes work around the Firehall,” Fire Chief Wenzel told Lakeland Connect. “She has shown a tremendous amount of heart and resiliency within her time as a volunteer and responder with Station 5 which has not gone unnoticed by her peers.”

Each year three firefighters are nominated by the officers and voted on by the members of Station 5 for the award.

Jensen told Lakeland Connect, “It is very rewarding to be a volunteer with Station 5. It was very humbling and unexpected to be nominated for and to be voted as firefighter of the year.”

“I am very much looking forward to continuing moving forward and helping the community as a member of Station 5 and the BRFA,” Jensen concluded.
