Vegreville RCMP investigate fatal collision in County of Minburn

One person is dead after their pick-up truck hit the ditch near Vegreville.

According to the RCMP, “On Jan. 6, at approximately 10 a.m., the Vegreville RCMP, the Vegreville Fire Department and EMS responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Range Road 152 near Township Road 514 in the County of Minburn.”

Cpl. Shawn Morgan is a Media Relations Officer with the Eastern Alberta District RCMP.

“A pick-up truck was reported to be in the ditch. The driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle and was found unconscious,” Cpl. Morgan said. “Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was northbound on Range Road 152 then drifted into the ditch on the west side of the road where it became stuck.”

The driver, a 69-year-old male of Vegreville, was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The name of the deceased will not be released.

“Although the investigation to date indicates that the death is not suspicious in nature it remains under investigation,” Cpl. Morgan said. “An autopsy is scheduled for the male at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.”
