Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit in Bonnyville arrests man for dangerous operation during proactive patrols
A Bonnyville man who tried to evade police is facing charges.
According to the Lakeland CRU, “On December 9, at approximately 3:50 p.m., members from RCMP’s Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (LCRU) were conducting patrols in a residential area in the Town of Bonnyville and observed an older model Ford pickup truck driving dangerously on the public roadway.”
Police attempted a traffic stop with the subject vehicle when the driver proceeded to make attempts to flee from the area. The suspect was unable to evade Police for long due to the snowy road conditions and was arrested without further incident.
Sam Allan Nunweiler, 19, of Bonnyville was charged with the following Criminal Code and Traffic Safety Act offences:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
- Flight from Police;
- Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited;
- Fail to comply with Release Order conditions x3;
- Operation of a motor vehicle without holding a valid operators licence;
- Operation of an unregistered motor vehicle;
- Operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
Nunweiler was held for a bail hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace on cash bail Release Order. Nunweiler is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on January 18, 2022.
