New fire truck to be stationed at the Paradise Valley Fire Hall

The County of Vermilion River was pleased to participate, alongside the Village of Paradise Valley and the Paradise Valley Fire Department, on the unveiling of the recently acquired a Ford F550 Rescue Apparatus to be stationed at the Paradise Valley Fire Hall.

Director of Protective Services Kirk Hughes, the County Fire Chief representing the County of Vermilion River, alongside Paradise Valley Fire Chief Nicholas Dobson and former County Fire Chief Orest Popil, did the official handover and christening of the new truck on Wednesday, Dec 1, at noon.

“The Paradise Valley Fire Department provides contract services to the County of Vermilion River, and that includes providing rescue on our roadways, highways and technical services” stated County Fire Chief Kirk Hughes, “Having this apparatus in our fleet greatly improves our ability to provide a high level of service to our residents, motorist and visitors in the field of motor vehicle extrication, grain, water, and technical rescue.”

The County of Vermilion River Council approved the contribution of $125,000 to the project, which, when added to the contributions from the Village, fundraising from the community and the volunteer firefighters themselves, allowed for the joint purchase of this piece of apparatus to improve community safety.

“We are extremely happy to be able to add this truck to our arsenal,” County Fire Chief Hughes told Lakeland Connect. “It allows our firefighters to improve their response times, carry more life-saving equipment and have a reliable vehicle to do a difficult task with. This truck will serve the southern part of the County for years to come.”

Paradise Valley covers a major portion of the southern part of the County, including; major highways, rivers, lakes, and agricultural farmland.

This new vehicle will provide increased mobility, reliability and increase the rescue services within the County.
