Bonnyville RCMP Briefs

The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 129 investigations during the time period of November 26 to December 3.

On November 29, at 9:30 p.m. the RCMP were called to a disturbance at a residence in Town of Bonnyville for an intoxicated woman who was bothering everyone in the house by screaming and slamming doors.  Upon Mounties arrival the woman had made her way into the middle of the street where she was screaming obscenities.  The member arrested the female and lodged her in jail until she was sober.  She has been charged with Causing a Disturbance.

On November 26, at 6:00 p.m. the Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a collision on 46 Street near the Home Hardware.  A motorist pulled onto 46 Street in front of Southbound traffic causing a collision.  The 20-year-old male was issued a violation ticket under the Use of the Highway & Rules of the Road Regulation for turning left unsafely.

During a recent check stop on Highway 660 near Range Road 464, the St. Paul Traffic Services branch of the RCMP checked several vehicles passing through. One motorist, a 31-year-old female from Cold Lake, was found to have a suspended driver’s licence and was appropriately charged and her vehicle was seized for 30 days.  Other tickets issued at this check stop to various other drivers included a 49-year-old male from Bonnyville charged with Transporting cannabis in an open package that was within reach of the driver or any other occupant of the vehicle which carries a fine of $120, Display unauthorized licence plate which cost $320, driving uninsured motor vehicle (mandatory court appearance with minimum fine of $2875), Knowingly operating a motor vehicle where registration cancelled or suspended carries the fine of $486 and Operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence is $324.  A 26-year-old male from Bonnyville was ticketed for Operating a motor vehicle/ trailer without subsisting certificate of registration ($324).

Sgt. Sarah Parke is the Detachment Commander for the Bonnyville RCMP.

“December is Impaired Driving Awareness month,” Sgt. Parke told Lakeland Connect. “This is a Canada-wide initiative to promote safe and sober driving; as such, we will be conducting targeted enforcement on motorists who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.”

Law enforcement will be focusing on impaired driving, winter driving and fatigue.  Motorists can expect increased check stops this month.
