Update on snow clearing in the Town of Bonnyville
There have been some snow clearing complaints from residents to the Town of Bonnyville due to windrows, also known as a big pile of snow in the centre lane, left on the streets overnight.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances and our snowblower equipment breaking down several times over the course of the last week or so, we have fallen behind on picking up our windrows,” the Town of Bonnyville stated. “These are generally not left on the street overnight, but because of the issues we have been having, we had no choice but to mark them and leave them overnight.”
At the same time, the Town of Bonnyville is dealing with equipment failure.
“Our Kubota that does the walking trails has also broken down and we are waiting for parts,” the Town of Bonnyville said. “We will be using alternative equipment to help out until our repairs can be made. All trails and sidewalks have been cleared at this time.”
Residents in the Town of Bonnyville are feeling the effects of old man Winter. Some residents are reporting that their streets have not been touched since the first significant snowfall. However, help is on the way.
“The type of snow (extremely wet and heavy), along with freeze and thaw temperatures, have made it very hard to roll and some of what was windrowed had to be split and broken up in order to be picked up by the snowblower,” the Town of Bonnyville said. “We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and we ask the public to please bear with us as we continue to do our best to get our streets cleaned up. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call our public works department.”
