Principal of Holy Cross receives prestigious award
Holy Cross Elementary School Principal Michelle Kaminski has been recognized as an outstanding leader.
Over the summer, Michelle was selected as the recipient of the 2020-2021 Distinguished Leadership Award, which is presented to teachers annually by the Council for School Leadership (CSL) of the Alberta Teachers’ Association.
The CSL describes those who receive the award as “People who are looking to challenge the status quo, improve learning in their contexts, and be equipped for higher levels of leadership.”
These individuals are considered role models in a vibrant network of educational leaders with the confidence and capabilities to lead innovative change for 21st century learning.
“It’s a true honour to be selected for this award. I have had the privilege of working with many great leaders who have shared their wisdom and expertise,” Kaminski said. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside and lead our teachers and support staff.”
Kaminski was raised in Cold Lake and grew up attending Lakeland Catholic Schools, so it was fitting that she would one day find herself teaching for the Lakeland Catholic School Division.
Michelle has spent the last ten years of her 21-year career as a principal, first at St. Dominic Elementary School before transferring to Holy Cross Elementary at the beginning of this school year.
“Michelle is an excellent example of servant leadership. She is dedicated and passionate about Catholic education and student learning,” Superintendent Pamela Guilbault said. “I want to congratulate her on behalf of all Lakeland Catholic on being named the 2020-2021 recipient. It is well deserved.”
Congratulations from the Lakeland.
