Golf course memberships in St. Paul will increase

The Parks and Recreation Board from the Town of St. Paul made a motion to Council on Monday to increase the cost of Membership Fees at the St. Paul Golf Course.

On November 22, Town of St. Paul Council members all voted in favour and approved the Parks and Recreation Board recommendation to increase membership fees at the St. Paul Golf Course by $25 to Adult Single, Adult Couple, Senior, and Senior Couple Golf Memberships.

Steven Jeffery is the Chief Administrative Officer in the Town of St. Paul.

“Parks and Recreation Board feels our membership fees are lower than surrounding courses and with price increases in fuel and equipment that the course should have a small increase,” Jeffery told Council at Monday’s meeting.

Mayor Maureen Miller asked Council for a discussion on the membership fee increase, but there was none, therefore Council approved Administration’s request.

“We felt the need to have a small increase to assist with offsetting these expenses,” Mayor Miller told Lakeland Connect.

Council also approved the Early Bird Rate with December at 15 per cent off and January at 10 per cent off the cost of membership during Monday’s meeting.

“We have been mindful in suggesting these increases and appreciate that we still have  some of the lowest prices for memberships in the area for an 18 hole course,” Mayor Miller said. “I encourage purchasing memberships with early bird discounts in December and January.”
