The Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit has arrested a male from Vermilion in relation to several driving offences.

According to the RCMP, “On Nov. 2, at 5:55 p.m., a member of the Strathcona County Property Crime Unit began investigating a suspicious vehicle at the Esso gas station on Highway 16 near Ardrossan.”

The Mounties determined the plate did not match the vehicle description and police attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation.

The vehicle continued westbound on Highway 16 towards Edmonton and refused to stop for police. The vehicle fled into Edmonton and was located by police at a gas station on Victoria Trail where the male suspect was arrested without incident.

Police determined that the male was already on conditions stemming from charges out of Vermilion in Oct. 2021.

Greg Wilson, 29, of Vermilion, has been charged with:

  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Fail to comply

Wilson was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Nov. 10, 2021.
