Bonnyville RCMP investigate fatal collision in Kehewin

A 20-year-old man is dead following a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday in Kehewin.

According to police, “On Nov. 10, at approximately 4:40 p.m. the Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to Highway 657 and Range Road 460 on the Kehewin Cree Nation for a two-vehicle collision.”

Bonnyville RCMP, Kehewin Cree Nations Emergency Services, and Emergency Medical Services all attended to assist.

The Bonnyville RCMP investigation determined that an east-bound car lost control and struck a guard rail before being “T boned” by an oncoming vehicle. A 20-year-old male from Kehewin Cree nation was declared deceased on scene by EMS. A 49-year-old female was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The Bonnyville RCMP with the assistance of an Alberta RCMP Collision Analyst is continuing to investigate.

The next-of-kin for the deceased has been notified and is being assisted by Bonnyville Victim Services and Bonnyville RCMP.

No further updates are anticipated.
