Sr. Pontiacs play lone home game this month Sunday
The Sr. Pontiacs made a game of it, but couldn’t draw even against the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs on Saturday, eventually losing 8-4.
The team’s start could be to blame–the Sr. Yaks allowed 5 unanswered goals on 11 shots in the first period to trail 5-0 in the intermission.
Lucas Isley scored his first goal of the season a minute into the 2nd frame, with Colton Buchta and Denis Cadrin adding tallies by the end of the period.
Buchta potted his second of the game in the 3rd period to make it just a one-goal contest.
However, Fort Saskatchewan responded with three quick goals in 48 seconds from Aaron Patten, Kyle Teague and Adam Moghrabi to put the game out of reach.
That moves the Sr. Pontiacs record to 0-3 in the early going.
Former Jr. A Pontiac Ryan Symington also scored for the Kings, while former Sr. Yak netminder Eric Szudor made 27 of 31 saves in the Chiefs victory.
Buchta currently has the Sr. Pontiacs team lead in scoring with four points.
Bonnyville plays Saturday in Westlock before a Sunday afternoon matinee at home against the Morinville Kings at 2:30pm.
They are home again for a pair of weekend games in early December: Saturday, Dec. 4 vs Fort Saskatchewan and Sunday, Dec. 5 vs Red Deer.
